Steve Rodenberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guus Ostermann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 5 minutes into the game, Arne van Dalen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Geijsteren's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Forza Almere the free kick. In the 5th minute, Arne van Dalen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Geijsteren's Steve Rodenberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Govert Vondel in the 12th minute of play. If Dries van Aalderen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Govert Vondel took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Steve Rodenberg. Steve Rodenberg dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 24th minute Guus Ostermann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Steve Rodenberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Steve Rodenberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kristof Reiling, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jurre Roewen in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Steve Rodenberg saved Geijsteren from getting behind. In the 40th minute, Nico-Jan Roeters hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Forza Almere were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kevin Owusu Abeyie to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Govert Vondel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Steve Rodenberg was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. After some careless play in the Geijsteren defense, Kristof Reiling kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Steve Rodenberg. The Geijsteren fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Steve Rodenberg should have stopped the shot. Steve Rodenberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kristof Reiling, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Forza Almere made a substitution. Peter Drok replaced Guus Ostermann. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Geijsteren's goalkeeper Steve Rodenberg, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Forza Almere getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Dries van Aalderen hit a great ball. Rafal Waselewicz came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Geijsteren's Kevin Owusu Abeyie. But to his dismay, Kevin Owusu Abeyie quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Govert Vondel might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Steve Rodenberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Govert Vondel ran back to his position shaking his head. Govert Vondel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kristof Reiling in the 91st minute of play forced Geijsteren's goalkeeper Steve Rodenberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Forza Almere's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
