Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Barry Dam in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Stefano Hilhorst prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bart de Vlieger kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Jonathan Deuring hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wilfred van der Doelen during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 10 played minutes Gaal got a freekick which was hit by Wilfred van der Doelen. Stefano Hilhorst took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan-Willem Daamen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stefano Hilhorst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan-Willem Daamen in the 18th minute of play. Gaal's Eelco van Zaanen suffered a concussion in the 19th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. After 19 minutes, Johan Neijsen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Foxel and the Gaal players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 20th match minute, Foxel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Johan Neijsen to maneuver through the defense. When Barry Dam came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Foxel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Barry Dam couldn't finish the play. Jan-Willem Daamen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Barry Dam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 30 minutes into the match, Jan-Willem Daamen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Stefano Hilhorst. Gaal's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jan-Willem Daamen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Stefano Hilhorst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan-Willem Daamen in the 36th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jelle Moes got free with Rob Wilbrink in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Barry Dam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stefano Hilhorst having to interfere. When Bertus Kuys fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Foxel's protests and gave Bertus Kuys a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Foxel's Bertus Kuys got a free kick in the 44th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Barry Dam was the one to do the kick off. Wilfred van der Doelen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Rob Wilbrink tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jelle Moes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rob Wilbrink having to interfere. Gaal's Jelle Moes got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wilfred van der Doelen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Jelle Moes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Barry Dam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jan-Willem Daamen took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Stefano Hilhorst. Stefano Hilhorst dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Stefano Hilhorst showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Barry Dam in the 96th minute of the match. During the 99th minute of the match Bertus Kuys completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Bertus Kuys a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Foxel getting a freekick after 100 minutes play. Bertus Kuys hit a great ball.
