The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Frits Evenhuis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gerard Joppets fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mathias Nagel having to interfere. When Frits Evenhuis came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Archem fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frits Evenhuis couldn't finish the play. Emile Naaijer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Peter van der Aa's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. 13 minutes into the game, Peter van der Aa recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Emile Naaijer. Peter van der Aa showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Mathias Nagel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerard Joppets in the 16th minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, Rogier Zegers was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Archem's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wieksloot the free kick. The supporters of Wieksloot booed when Archem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rogier Zegers didn't get a good kick on the ball. 25 minutes in the game, Peter van der Aa fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Emile Naaijer having to interfere. In the 27thth minute of the game Peter van der Aa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Archem's Emile Naaijer was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Archem booed when Wieksloot was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Peter van der Aa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mathias Nagel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gerard Joppets's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. In the 32nd minute, Frits Evenhuis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wessel Lindenbergh kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. After 36 minutes, Coos Holt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wieksloot and the Archem players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 37th minute there was a penalty for Archem. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The audience was convinced that Boukjan Halen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Emile Naaijer was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. 63 minutes into the game, Wieksloot's Boukjan Halen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In the 82nd minute, Gregor Saveneij hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wieksloot's Boukjan Halen got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Archem's Emile Naaijer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peter van der Aa in the 98th minute of play. Archem's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
