Lennisheuvel Excelsior's Freek Eschendaal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lennart Hilkes in the 8th minute of play. Geale Zegeling's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Freek Eschendaal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. Joost Zijlstra made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Tonny Rooy sent off a good shot on target. Rob Hardering received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Joost Zijlstra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 19 minutes into the match, Oosterend RKSV's goalkeeper Joost Zijlstra had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tonny Rooy. Joost Zijlstra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rob Hardering, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Remco Elst hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Lennisheuvel Excelsior's Rob Hardering got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 29th minute Rob Hardering shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joost Zijlstra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Freek Eschendaal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lennart Hilkes in the 31st minute of play. If Lennart Hilkes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rob Hardering sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joost Zijlstra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan Kras in the 44th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Geale Zegeling to make the kick off. Lennisheuvel Excelsior's Freek Eschendaal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Lennisheuvel Excelsior from getting a goal against them. 54 minutes into the match, Oosterend RKSV's goal looked a bit too open when Tonny Rooy came free, but Joost Zijlstra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 63 played minutes Lennisheuvel Excelsior got a freekick which was hit by Jorn van Gaal. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lennisheuvel Excelsior's goalkeeper Freek Eschendaal, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 67 minutes into the game, Lennisheuvel Excelsior's Rob Hardering nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joost Zijlstra made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Freek Eschendaal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geale Zegeling in the 73rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Lennisheuvel Excelsior's zone, Geale Zegeling stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Freek Eschendaal came out of the goal and Geale Zegeling tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Lennart Hilkes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 89 minutes into the match, Lennisheuvel Excelsior's goal looked a bit too open when Govert Derksen came free, but Freek Eschendaal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
