Mark de Bruin hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Hans Scheer made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Cobus Barends sent off a good shot on target. Dwingeloo's Carsten Hooiveld got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frederik Geraets in the 33rd minute of play forced Dwingeloo's goalkeeper Julius Lubbers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Fernando Westra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cobus Barends made a kick off. The supporters of Overschild booed when Dwingeloo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mark de Bruin didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Rafael Ridder in the 53rd minute really tested Julius Lubbers's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Julius Lubbers didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 55th minute, which inside left pole to 0-4. After a defensive mix-up in Overschild's zone, Carsten Hooiveld stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hans Scheer came out of the goal and Carsten Hooiveld tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 75th minute, Jean-Paul Hoogendorp got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dwingeloo's Julius Lubbers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Dwingeloo from getting a goal against them.
