In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Wedderheide's goalkeeper Koos Willems, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Sjoerd Roetering managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wedderheide's supporters rose to their feet, but Sjoerd Roetering was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gerwin Kuijsten breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the game's 19th minute Hugten's Koos Schattenberg took a hard shot from long distance, a kick which went into the net just to the right of Koos Willems and thus the score was 0-1. After some careless play in the Hugten defense, Sjoerd Roetering kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gerwin Kuijsten. The Hugten fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gerwin Kuijsten should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Wedderheide booed when Hugten was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bob Meijeringh didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th minute, Wedderheide's Hendrik-Jan van Asseldonk dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. 32 minutes into the match, Wedderheide's goal looked a bit too open when Hendrik-Jan Zeegelaar came free, but Koos Willems reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Hendrik-Jan van Asseldonk dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gerwin Kuijsten, 3-1.
