The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Boudewijn Castelen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Remco Stuijt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Boudewijn Castelen in the 5th minute of the match. The supporters of Oosterboer V.V. booed when FC Volendam was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roeland Mans didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nick Vliet in the 8th minute of play forced Oosterboer V.V.'s goalkeeper Pepijn Willemse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Oosterboer V.V. defense, Nigel Maurits kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pepijn Willemse. The Oosterboer V.V. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pepijn Willemse should have stopped the shot. Roeland Mans took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pepijn Willemse. Pepijn Willemse dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Remco Stuijt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Boudewijn Castelen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roland Schipper's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 25thth minute, Remco Stuijt skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Remco Stuijt made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Roland Schipper sent off a good shot on target. When Oosterboer V.V.'s Boudewijn Castelen in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Volendam's goalie prevented a goal. In the 32nd minute of the match Andy Wisgerhof sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pepijn Willemse skillfully saved the ball. Pepijn Willemse didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nigel Maurits went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Lucas Kolkman scored 1-4 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pepijn Willemse, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.

FC Volendam's Oscar Brugmans was substituted for Lucas Kolkman. FC Volendam's Roelof Heikens was substituted for Andy Wisgerhof. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Boudewijn Castelen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Boudewijn Castelen couldn't finish the play. After 69 played minutes Oosterboer V.V. got a freekick which was hit by Roland Schipper. Pepijn Willemse showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oscar Brugmans in the 74th minute of the match. A collision led to Oosterboer V.V. getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Job Batum hit a great ball. Boudewijn Castelen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Remco Stuijt having to interfere. The FC Volendam supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Volendam would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
