Nigel Maurits received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Stijn Hof tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bavinkel's Stijn Hof proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Bavinkel from getting a goal against them. The supporters of FC Volendam booed when Bavinkel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donny van Dijk didn't get a good kick on the ball. Remco Stuijt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ferdinant de Haan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 21 minutes, Hubert Ricksen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Volendam and the Bavinkel players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 21st minute, Hubert Ricksen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Jacco Zijlstra in the 24th minute really tested Stijn Hof's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After a rather tough play, Bavinkel's Gert Jan Zegers got a free kick in the 26th minute. 30 minutes into the game, Lucas Kolkman recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Stijn Hof. Lucas Kolkman showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Lucas Kolkman struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Stijn Hof didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Volendam. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ferdinant de Haan in the 44th minute of play forced FC Volendam's goalkeeper Remco Stuijt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bavinkel were furious when Jacques Heuving was red carded, 48 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. FC Volendam made a substitution. Roelof Heikens replaced Andy Wisgerhof. FC Volendam's Oscar Brugmans was substituted for Lucas Kolkman. In the 52nd minute of the game, FC Volendam got a penalty. The shot went straight in by the left post. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ferdinant de Haan to make the kick off. Stijn Hof showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oscar Brugmans, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. The FC Volendam fans' excitement grew in the 60th match minute when FC Volendam's Nigel Maurits looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Bavinkel's goalkeeper Stijn Hof, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hubert Ricksen in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stijn Hof saved Bavinkel from getting behind. Stijn Hof stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nigel Maurits's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. 75 minutes into the game, Mirko Engelaar threw the ball into play from the sideline. FC Volendam's Hubert Ricksen quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After 76 played minutes Bavinkel got a freekick which was hit by Ferdinant de Haan. Hubert Ricksen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stijn Hof having to interfere. Stijn Hof made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nigel Maurits in the 99th minute of play. Oscar Brugmans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 100th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stijn Hof having to interfere.
