If Co Sleiffer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Andre de Vogt during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 5th minute, Andre de Vogt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 10 minutes had been played when some careless play by AFC Ajax's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Derk Teunisse was slow to take the kick. During this time Doodenhoek HC's players had a chance to rest. Patrick Schmidt's late challenge caught a Doodenhoek HC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Patrick Schmidt helped the player get up and apologised. In the 12th minute Thijs van Rijswijk suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Dirk Schokkenbroek received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Theo Soer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 20th minute Dirk Schokkenbroek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Theo Soer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Dirk Schokkenbroek had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dirk Schokkenbroek struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Theo Soer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AFC Ajax. Theo Soer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dirk Schokkenbroek, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Dirk Schokkenbroek recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bob Meyer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Theo Soer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of AFC Ajax booed when Doodenhoek HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Karel Maes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 44 minutes, Rafael Jeronimus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AFC Ajax's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rafael Jeronimus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Doodenhoek HC's zone, Dirk Schokkenbroek stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Theo Soer came out of the goal and Dirk Schokkenbroek tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Co Sleiffer was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Dirk Schokkenbroek managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AFC Ajax's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dirk Schokkenbroek was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 53 minutes into the match, Doodenhoek HC's goalkeeper Theo Soer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pierre Zoetmulder. 55 minutes into the game, Dirk Schokkenbroek cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Theo Soer was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Pierre Zoetmulder fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AFC Ajax's protests and gave Pierre Zoetmulder a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Doodenhoek HC booed when AFC Ajax was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pierre Zoetmulder didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Dirk Schokkenbroek came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the AFC Ajax fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dirk Schokkenbroek couldn't finish the play. AFC Ajax's Pierre Zoetmulder got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Co Sleiffer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Jan Rein Bosma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 64 minutes, Bob Meyer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AFC Ajax and the Doodenhoek HC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After having played for 90 minutes, Pierre Zoetmulder managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
