In the 6th minute Ralph Slot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michael Ieberts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Michael Ieberts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martien Genkenaar, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. If Carlo Frankena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 14 minutes into the match, Balgoij S.V.'s goal looked a bit too open when Martien Genkenaar came free, but Michael Ieberts reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 16 minutes into the game, Ralph Slot was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Alem's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Balgoij S.V. the free kick. In the 16th match minute, Alem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ralph Slot to maneuver through the defense. Arjan Haydon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 19th minute, Karsten Jans hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 22 played minutes Arjan Haydon rounded Alem's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. 27 minutes into the match, Tonny van Zaanen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Robbie van Zeist. Alem's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tonny van Zaanen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Christiaan Dekker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robbie van Zeist having to interfere. Bart Plagge kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. A collision led to Balgoij S.V. getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Erik Hoogstrate hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Balgoij S.V.'s zone, Ralph Slot stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Michael Ieberts came out of the goal and Ralph Slot tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 46 minutes, Carlo Frankena managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alem's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlo Frankena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Alem booed when Balgoij S.V. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arjan Haydon didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlo Frankena to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Balgoij S.V.'s Maarten Ijsselhof got a free kick in the 51st minute. Carlo Frankena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michael Ieberts having to interfere. Martien Arts hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arjan Haydon in the 56th minute of play forced Alem's goalkeeper Robbie van Zeist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Michael Ieberts was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Carlo Frankena showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 60 minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Martien Genkenaar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alem's supporters rose to their feet, but Martien Genkenaar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Michael Ieberts breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alem's Robbie van Zeist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tonny van Zaanen in the 68th minute of play. After 68 minutes, Arjan Haydon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Balgoij S.V. and the Alem players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Balgoij S.V.'s Arjan Haydon got a free kick in the 68th minute. Tonny van Zaanen's late challenge caught a Alem's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tonny van Zaanen helped the player get up and apologised. Tonny van Zaanen hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. When Christiaan Dekker fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Balgoij S.V.'s protests and gave Christiaan Dekker a yellow card for diving instead. Christiaan Dekker hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Ralph Slot took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 84th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Michael Ieberts. Balgoij S.V.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Carlo Frankena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlo Frankena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Michael Ieberts tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alem's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
