After a rather tough play, Seh Heerde's Harald Schouten got a free kick in the 4th minute. Seh Heerde's Jacco Grijpstra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jelte Sans in the 5th minute of play. 8 minutes into the match, Sjef Soer had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacco Grijpstra. Seh Heerde's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sjef Soer was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 15th minute, Zutphen FC's Fabiën Rieks ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jacco Grijpstra. Jacco Grijpstra yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. In the 21st minute Nick Bartels shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacco Grijpstra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 23rd minute, Zutphen FC's Sjef Soer dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. Fabiën Rieks fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacco Grijpstra having to interfere. Seh Heerde's Jacco Grijpstra proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Seh Heerde from getting a goal against them. In the 33rd minute, Nick Bartels left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Zutphen FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sjef Soer got free with Jacco Grijpstra in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Izaak van Dalen scored 4-1 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Roland Genkenaar, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Seh Heerde getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Elco Idema hit a great ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nick Bartels stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jacco Grijpstra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nick Bartels in the 58th minute of play. Jacco Grijpstra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sjef Soer in the 60th minute of the match. With a little luck, Zutphen FC's Roland Genkenaar got control of the ball when Elco Idema tried to sneak it across the goal line. Seh Heerde's Jacco Grijpstra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sjef Soer in the 66th minute of play. After 69 minutes, Henny Nagel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Seh Heerde and the Zutphen FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Seh Heerde getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Henny Nagel hit a great ball. Jacco Grijpstra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nick Bartels in the 71st minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Izaak van Dalen in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roland Genkenaar saved Zutphen FC from getting behind. Elco Idema might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Roland Genkenaar. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elco Idema ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee felt a red card was in order, 76 minutes into the game, when Elco Idema put in a rough tackle. Elco Idema hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. When Jelte Sans came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Zutphen FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jelte Sans couldn't finish the play. In the 84th minute Nick Bartels shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacco Grijpstra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Zutphen FC booed when Seh Heerde was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Izaak van Dalen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elco Jans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Roland Genkenaar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 93 played minutes, Zutphen FC's Jhon Hofmeester shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jacco Grijpstra came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Zutphen FC reached it. In the 95th minute, Jan Hendrik van der Gun left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Zutphen FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the Seh Heerde players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Zutphen FC.
