Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) In the 6th minute, Steenbergen's Herbert Langenbach dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. After 10 played minutes CSKA Kazan got a freekick which was hit by Freek Kuiper. After a defensive mix-up in Steenbergen's zone, Güntekin Hızır stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nigel Dijken came out of the goal and Güntekin Hızır tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 16 minutes of play, CSKA Kazan's Güntekin Hızır made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nigel Dijken was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 22nd minute of the match Youri Staarman sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nigel Dijken skillfully saved the ball. After 23 minutes, Niek Hermensen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Steenbergen and the CSKA Kazan players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of CSKA Kazan booed when Steenbergen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niek Hermensen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Güntekin Hızır in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nigel Dijken prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Boudewijn Ricksen came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the CSKA Kazan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Boudewijn Ricksen couldn't finish the play. In the 29th match minute, CSKA Kazan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabian Edwardo to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Güntekin Hızır's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nigel Dijken was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. After 39 minutes of play, CSKA Kazan's Sjef Korevaar made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nigel Dijken was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 45 played minutes Steenbergen got a freekick which was hit by Gertjan Schuurmans. Freek Kuiper didn't quite understand what happened when in the 47 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Herbert Langenbach stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Nigel Dijken made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adriaan de Zee in the 51st minute of play. Nigel Dijken took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adriaan de Zee, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 54th minute, Güntekin Hızır fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Nigel Dijken, passed just outside the right post. Nigel Dijken showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Güntekin Hızır, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Martijn Baatenburg charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Martijn Baatenburg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. CSKA Kazan's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
