Pascal Adelaar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in FC Gelsenkirchen 04's zone, Pascal Adelaar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marc Klerk came out of the goal and Pascal Adelaar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marinus van Zanten hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. After 25 minutes, Elbert Batenburg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Gelsenkirchen 04 and the Lensheuvel S.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. Han Everts kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Gregor Siemers made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Frits Ijksma sent off a good shot on target. Erik Scholten received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Gregor Siemers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marc Klerk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tjeerd Erenstein, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. After 39 minutes of play FC Gelsenkirchen 04's Elbert Batenburg was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 40th minute, Elbert Batenburg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 43 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Gelsenkirchen 04's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Henk Abbenbroek was slow to take the kick. During this time Lensheuvel S.C.'s players had a chance to rest. Tjeerd Erenstein recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pascal Adelaar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frits Ijksma stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Frits Ijksma received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Gregor Siemers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tjeerd Erenstein sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpected shot in the 57th minute by Tjeerd Erenstein got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After 59 minutes, Remco van der Valk mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Gelsenkirchen 04 and the Lensheuvel S.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. Remco van der Valk kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. The supporters of Lensheuvel S.C. booed when FC Gelsenkirchen 04 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ruud van Gessel didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Marc Klerk managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Lensheuvel S.C.'s Pascal Adelaar fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Tjeerd Erenstein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 74th match minute, FC Gelsenkirchen 04 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Coos van Heiningen to maneuver through the defense. Tjeerd Erenstein struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Marc Klerk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lensheuvel S.C.. Pascal Adelaar in the 78thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Marc Klerk, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 1-1 became the score in the 79th minute when Tjeerd Erenstein elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 84th minute Tjeerd Erenstein shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marc Klerk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marc Klerk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tjeerd Erenstein, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 87 minutes in the game, Pascal Adelaar fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Marc Klerk having to interfere. In the 94th minute Tjeerd Erenstein shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marc Klerk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
