Iwan Maasland showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnout van Baarle in the 6th minute of the match. When Riemer Bodde fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Reusel Excelsior's protests and gave Riemer Bodde a yellow card for diving instead. In the 9th match minute, Reusel Excelsior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Riemer Bodde to maneuver through the defense. Reusel Excelsior's Iwan Maasland played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bennie Zuiverloon in the 11th minute of play. Hans Scheepstra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 16 minutes into the game, Filip Ruiter was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Idserdaburen HC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Reusel Excelsior the free kick. After 16 played minutes Idserdaburen HC got a freekick which was hit by Filip Ruiter. Sjoerd Hammen's shot from long distance in the 17th minute was not bad at all, but Idserdaburen HC's Tommie Theissen knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. After a rather tough play, Idserdaburen HC's Johan Tulner got a free kick in the 19th minute. The audience was convinced that Jan Rein Deitmers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tommie Theissen was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. Jan Rein Deitmers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Tommie Theissen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan Rein Deitmers in the 28th minute of play forced Idserdaburen HC's goalkeeper Tommie Theissen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 33rd match minute, Idserdaburen HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Johan Tulner to maneuver through the defense. After 36 minutes of play, Idserdaburen HC's Arnout van Baarle made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Iwan Maasland was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Idserdaburen HC's goalkeeper Tommie Theissen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Jan Rein Deitmers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tommie Theissen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hans Scheepstra in the 44th minute. 47 minutes into the match, Idserdaburen HC's goalkeeper Tommie Theissen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Riemer Bodde. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jan Rein Deitmers made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Idserdaburen HC's zone, Jan Rein Deitmers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommie Theissen came out of the goal and Jan Rein Deitmers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bennie Zuiverloon during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Bennie Zuiverloon hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. If Roderick van Dalfsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Bennie Zuiverloon came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Idserdaburen HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bennie Zuiverloon couldn't finish the play. If Anton Wiggers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Reusel Excelsior's zone, Roderick van Dalfsen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iwan Maasland came out of the goal and Roderick van Dalfsen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bennie Zuiverloon might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Iwan Maasland. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bennie Zuiverloon ran back to his position shaking his head.
