Maikel de Hondt's late challenge caught a Westrik's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Maikel de Hondt helped the player get up and apologised. After 7 played minutes Varsel got a freekick which was hit by Maikel de Hondt. Harm Kuypers struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Ralf Baalen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Westrik. 11 minutes into the match, Westrik's goal looked a bit too open when Allard Berendt came free, but Henk Hoven reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Herbert Muskee sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allard Berendt in the 18th minute of play forced Westrik's goalkeeper Henk Hoven to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Harm Kuypers struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Ralf Baalen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Westrik. In the 25th minute, Herbert Muskee got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ralf Baalen was out of position in the 28 minute of play, and Herbert Muskee capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Herbert Muskee really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. A hard shot 31 in the game by Harm Kuypers from a close distance when the talented Ralf Baalen managed to make a qualified save. Varsel's players were relieved. Henk Hoven made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Allard Berendt in the 32nd minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Varsel's Allard Berendt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Henk Hoven narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Henk Hoven made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karsten van der Meer in the 37th minute of play. Henk Hoven showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Allard Berendt, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Karsten van der Meer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Allard Berendt was the one to do the kick off. In the 56th minute Allard Berendt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henk Hoven saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Westrik's zone, Ronald Decheiver stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Henk Hoven came out of the goal and Ronald Decheiver tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 61 minutes into the match, Varsel's goal looked a bit too open when Herbert Muskee came free, but Ralf Baalen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Allard Berendt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 67th match minute, Westrik was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pieter Dorenbosch to maneuver through the defense. If Karsten van der Meer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Allard Berendt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Henk Hoven tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute, Niek Luikens hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Harm Kuypers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ralf Baalen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. 86 minutes into the game, Casper Hammen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Varsel's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Westrik the free kick. The supporters of Westrik booed when Varsel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Casper Hammen didn't get a good kick on the ball. 87 minutes into the game, Herbert Muskee cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Ralf Baalen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Westrik's Herbert Muskee got a free kick in the 91st minute. With a little luck, Westrik's Henk Hoven got control of the ball when Ronald Decheiver tried to sneak it across the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Varsel players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Westrik.
