When Hendrik van Rhijn came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Dwingelo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hendrik van Rhijn couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Heinenoord getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Fred Kiewit hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hendrik van Rhijn in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dirk Panter saved Heinenoord from getting behind. After 19 played minutes Dwingelo got a freekick which was hit by Barry Heubach. Yuri Kooij's shot from long distance in the 20th minute was not bad at all, but Dwingelo's Matthijs Blaauwgeers knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. After a rather tough play, Dwingelo's Gert Jan Wit got a free kick in the 20th minute. With a little luck, Dwingelo's Matthijs Blaauwgeers got control of the ball when Chiel Piening tried to sneak it across the goal line. Barry Heubach received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Dirk Panter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dirk Panter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olof Haremeijer, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. After having played for 32 minutes, Frank Wegman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Heinenoord's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frank Wegman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ron Schenning fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dirk Panter having to interfere. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Heinenoord's goalkeeper Dirk Panter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 47th minute Hendrik van Rhijn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dirk Panter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frank Wegman made a kick off. Hans-Cees Geurtsen kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Tommie Plenter's late challenge caught a Heinenoord's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The supporters of Heinenoord booed when Dwingelo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gert Jan Wit didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 72ndth minute of the game Chiel Piening who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Dwingelo's Matthijs Blaauwgeers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ron Schenning could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Dirk Panter made a huge save. Chiel Piening's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Matthijs Blaauwgeers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. Barry Heubach hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. If Ron Schenning had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Heinenoord's zone, Hendrik van Rhijn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dirk Panter came out of the goal and Hendrik van Rhijn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 95 minutes, Ron Schenning managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dwingelo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ron Schenning was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 96 played minutes Heinenoord got a freekick which was hit by Lukas Lodewijks. Heinenoord succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Dwingelo had controlled the match.
