The referee ignored Neersteind HC's protests and gave Ton Beuk a yellow card for diving instead. After 13 played minutes Neersteind HC got a freekick which was hit by Ton Beuk. Giel van Rhijn in the 15thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Kevin Salens, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 16 minutes, Abraham Reinders mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Peizerhorst and the Neersteind HC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Giel van Rhijn did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Kevin Salens 25 minutes into the match. In the 40th minute, Wilco Kloppenburg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dirk Jan Scholten hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Peizerhorst's zone, Dirk Zijlstra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anthony Beerthuis came out of the goal and Dirk Zijlstra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 47thth minute of the game Dirk Zijlstra who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Peizerhorst's Anthony Beerthuis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
With his leg Anthony Beerthuis managed to avoid a goal in the 57thth minute, when Neersteind HC's Wilco Kloppenburg fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Dirk Zijlstra came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Neersteind HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dirk Zijlstra couldn't finish the play. Anthony Beerthuis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Neersteind HC's Dirk Zijlstra, in the 76th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Neersteind HC. After 79 minutes, Laurens Zaagman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Neersteind HC and the Peizerhorst players grew even worse after the yellow card. Kevin Salens stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ted Franssen's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. Neersteind HC were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
