The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, Otto Brandsma cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Jan Hendrik van Ankeren was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 5th match minute, ASF Amersfoort was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marnix Themmen to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of ASF Amersfoort booed when Usseloo Eendracht was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dries Lemmen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Otto Brandsma fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan Hendrik van Ankeren having to interfere. Ronny Heebels could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Ivo Bartele made a huge save. Jan Hendrik van Ankeren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jasper Bruin, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Marnix Themmen kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Jasper Bruin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Jan Hendrik van Ankeren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Otto Brandsma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivo Bartele showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilbert Jonge in the 48th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jasper Bruin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jasper Bruin's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 54thth minute, Jan Hendrik van Ankeren skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 57th match minute, ASF Amersfoort was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Otto Brandsma to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jasper Bruin got free with Jan Hendrik van Ankeren in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 62 minutes, Henk Das mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ASF Amersfoort and the Usseloo Eendracht players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, ASF Amersfoort's Henk Das got a free kick in the 62nd minute. If Sjoerd Zomer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Ben Veninga fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ASF Amersfoort's protests and gave Ben Veninga a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, ASF Amersfoort's Ben Veninga got a free kick in the 68th minute. A collision led to ASF Amersfoort getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Jasper Bruin hit a great ball. Cobus Oortwijn recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Usseloo Eendracht's Jan Hendrik van Ankeren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jasper Bruin in the 89th minute of play. The ASF Amersfoort supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing ASF Amersfoort would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
