After 35 minutes, Hendrik-Jan Kroon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the spaarder2 and the Delfzyl HC players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Ron Luijten put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Folkert van Fessum. After some careless play in the spaarder2 defense, Hendrik van Loo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Folkert van Fessum. The spaarder2 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Folkert van Fessum should have stopped the shot. 71 minutes into the game, Delfzyl HC's Ron Luijten nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Folkert van Fessum made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. After having played for 74 minutes, Melvin Buskes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. spaarder2's supporters crossed their fingers, but Melvin Buskes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
