Harry Vrieze didn't get a good kick on the ball. Corné Klein was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Joep Haar showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 10 minute of play. After 13 played minutes Groot Douwel got a freekick which was hit by Martin Smibum. When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Joep Haar put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Corné Klein. In the 18th minute Joep Haar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Corné Klein saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Corné Klein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joep Haar, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Groot Douwel's Martin Smibum got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Groot Douwel's Corné Klein proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Groot Douwel from getting a goal against them. Danny Reitsma kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Corné Klein stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joep Haar's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. 32 minutes into the match, Groot Douwel's goalkeeper Corné Klein had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Co van der Struijk. Joep Haar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Co van der Struijk put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Corné Klein. If Co van der Struijk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oscar Maurits was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The wind increased when Joep Haar made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Co van der Struijk managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vaartkant's supporters crossed their fingers, but Co van der Struijk was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Co van der Struijk in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Corné Klein prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee felt a red card was in order, 61 minutes into the game, when Jelte Veenker put in a rough tackle. After 60 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Groot Douwel! In the 63rd minute there was a penalty for Vaartkant. Jan Rein Hilbrands stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Corné Klein. 4-0. In the 70th minute, Co van der Struijk left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vaartkant fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. Joep Haar blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Corné Klein having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joep Haar in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Corné Klein saved Groot Douwel from getting behind. Co van der Struijk might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Corné Klein. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Co van der Struijk ran back to his position shaking his head. Joep Haar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Co van der Struijk came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Vaartkant fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Co van der Struijk couldn't finish the play. Corné Klein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Co van der Struijk in the 93rd minute of play. Co van der Struijk scored 6-0 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Corné Klein, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joep Haar in the 100th minute of play forced Groot Douwel's goalkeeper Corné Klein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Groot Douwel defense, Co van der Struijk kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Corné Klein. The Groot Douwel fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Corné Klein should have stopped the shot. Vaartkant's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
