Marco Heebels's late challenge caught a FC Hersilia Zevenbergen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marco Heebels helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Renkum getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Marco Heebels hit a great ball. Roger Theuws stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Johannes Matthijs's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Ooijer in the 12th minute of play forced FC Hersilia Zevenbergen's goalkeeper Alwin Heide to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 14th minute Frank Ooijer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alwin Heide saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Eric van den Hoogen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Eric van den Hoogen came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Renkum fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eric van den Hoogen couldn't finish the play. A collision led to FC Hersilia Zevenbergen getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Twan Wagenaar hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Renkum's Robert Boshuis tried to score from far away in the 27th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 28th match minute, FC Hersilia Zevenbergen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerwin Bernard to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eric van den Hoogen in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alwin Heide saved FC Hersilia Zevenbergen from getting behind. Alwin Heide took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric van den Hoogen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roger Theuws showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johannes Matthijs, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Renkum's Eric van den Hoogen got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 43rd minute Eric van den Hoogen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alwin Heide saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The FC Hersilia Zevenbergen players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Renkum were winning 0-1.

Jens Heijer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Hans Aalst helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of FC Hersilia Zevenbergen booed when Renkum was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hans Aalst didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 58th minute Johannes Matthijs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roger Theuws saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roger Theuws made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jens Heijer in the 69th minute of play. Johannes Matthijs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Roger Theuws tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Johannes Matthijs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alwin Heide made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eric van den Hoogen in the 77th minute. Eric van den Hoogen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alwin Heide read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. Eric van den Hoogen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alwin Heide having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Frank Ooijer kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Alwin Heide. That made the score 0-3 in the 88 minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Renkum walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
