In the 23rdth minute of the game Henk-Jan Knops who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Heemserveen's Huub Baatenburg was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Henk-Jan Knops received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Huub Baatenburg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35th match minute, Portengen HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henk-Jan Knops to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Portengen HC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Emile Robbermond hit a great ball. 43 minutes into the game, Jeroen Schalkwijk recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nathan Trip. Jeroen Schalkwijk showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0.

The wind increased when Jeroen Schalkwijk made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Heemserveen booed when Portengen HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emile Robbermond didn't get a good kick on the ball. Meindert Zegeling kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Portengen HC's Hugo Hommes got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 62nd minute, Henk-Jan Knops got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 64 played minutes Heemserveen got a freekick which was hit by Koos Enting. 66 minutes into the match, Portengen HC's goal looked a bit too open when Jeroen Schalkwijk came free, but Nathan Trip reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Heemserveen's Jeroen Schalkwijk in 75 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Nathan Trip guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Nathan Trip showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ruben Ostermann in the 76th minute of the match. Henk-Jan Knops who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 78thth minute tested the skills of Huub Baatenburg when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Henk-Jan Knops sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Huub Baatenburg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jelle Breinburg in the 83rd minute of the match. Jelle Breinburg struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Huub Baatenburg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Portengen HC. Heemserveen's Huub Baatenburg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jelle Breinburg in the 90th minute of play. Nathan Trip stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jeroen Schalkwijk's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. Henk-Jan Knops's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 95thth minute, Huub Baatenburg skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Henk-Jan Knops sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Heemserveen were victorious despite being under pressure from Portengen HC for much of the match.
