Giovanni Achterberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dries Ekelhoff having to interfere. Raymond de Vries sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Barry Platvoet might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Christijan van Heiningen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Barry Platvoet ran back to his position shaking his head. Jan-Joost Spanjaard struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. The referee ignored Roosdaal Sport's protests and gave Luuk Schuttrup a yellow card for diving instead. Marco Knops shot a long shot in the 31st minute and a light blocked Dries Ekelhoff hadn't a chance when the ball went into goal on his right side. It was 0-1. A collision led to Havelt Excelsior getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Richard Aukes hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Roosdaal Sport's zone, Giovanni Achterberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dries Ekelhoff came out of the goal and Giovanni Achterberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Raymond de Vries was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Ted Zeydeveld hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Marco Knops in the 53rd minute really tested Dries Ekelhoff's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. When Giovanni Achterberg came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Havelt Excelsior fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Giovanni Achterberg couldn't finish the play. In the 60th minute, Ted Zeydeveld hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luuk Schuttrup got his second yellow card in the match during the 65th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After a rather tough play, Roosdaal Sport's Luuk Schuttrup got a free kick in the 66th minute. Dries Ekelhoff was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Marco Knops. Barry Platvoet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Christijan van Heiningen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Giovanni Achterberg kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Jan-Joost Spanjaard who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 77thth minute tested the skills of Dries Ekelhoff when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Havelt Excelsior's Jan-Joost Spanjaard got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dries Ekelhoff showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giovanni Achterberg in the 80th minute of the match. Jan-Joost Spanjaard struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Dries Ekelhoff didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Havelt Excelsior. If Giovanni Achterberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jan-Joost Spanjaard recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 86 minutes, Dries Ekelhoff successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 90th minute Giovanni Achterberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dries Ekelhoff saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dries Ekelhoff made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jan-Joost Spanjaard in the 92nd minute. Dries Ekelhoff showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Giovanni Achterberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. Havelt Excelsior's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
