Steven de Freitas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurens Steyns, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Laurens Steyns's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Steven de Freitas - 0-1 was put on the score board in the 8th minute. Joris Landzaat's late challenge caught a FC Dord's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joris Landzaat helped the player get up and apologised. Steven de Freitas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Corné Jaliens in the 14th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Medemblik HC's Jacob Drok got a free kick in the 16th minute. Jef Kroeze struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Elco Siebum didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Dord. After 19 played minutes Medemblik HC got a freekick which was hit by Jacob Drok. Alex Verweijen charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alex Verweijen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 21st minute, Alex Verweijen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sipke Konterman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elco Siebum having to interfere. Huib Keupink fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elco Siebum having to interfere. Jef Kroeze recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Han Rolink's late challenge caught a Medemblik HC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Han Rolink helped the player get up and apologised. In the 42nd match minute, FC Dord was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Han Rolink to maneuver through the defense. If Corné Jaliens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Steven de Freitas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alex Verweijen went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jef Kroeze to strike the kick off in the second half. 59 minutes into the match, Medemblik HC's goal looked a bit too open when Jef Kroeze came free, but Elco Siebum reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Steve Pik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 62 minutes into the game, one of Medemblik HC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 64th minute there was a penalty for FC Dord. Vincent Jorna stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Elco Siebum. 3-2. After some careless play in the Medemblik HC defense, Jef Kroeze kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Elco Siebum. The Medemblik HC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Elco Siebum should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, FC Dord's Steven de Freitas got control of the ball when Steve Pik tried to sneak it across the goal line. 76 minutes into the match, Corné Jaliens had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Steven de Freitas. FC Dord's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Corné Jaliens was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-3. Sipke Konterman hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Huib Keupink in the 90th minute of play forced Medemblik HC's goalkeeper Elco Siebum to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Laurens Steyns fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Medemblik HC's protests and gave Laurens Steyns a yellow card for diving instead. Medemblik HC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
