Steve Pik sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Steve Pik fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Menno van der Sar having to interfere. Richard Jonkman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Elco Siebum having to make a save. Elco Siebum stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Maurits Kaspers's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. 14 minutes into the match, Medemblik HC's goal looked a bit too open when Maurits Kaspers came free, but Elco Siebum reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Corné Jaliens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Menno van der Sar having to interfere. When Corné Jaliens came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Medemblik HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Corné Jaliens couldn't finish the play. Menno van der Sar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steve Pik in the 27th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Steve Pik managed to get in a good position for a shot. Medemblik HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Steve Pik was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Menno van der Sar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Corné Jaliens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Menno van der Sar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Menno van der Sar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Corné Jaliens's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. 41 minutes into the match, Medemblik HC's goalkeeper Elco Siebum had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Richard Jonkman. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Steve Pik could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Menno van der Sar made a huge save. In the 67th minute of the match, Corné Jaliens tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Menno van der Sar saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Corné Jaliens in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Menno van der Sar saved Bhutan Utd from getting behind. Steve Pik fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Menno van der Sar having to interfere. If Steve Pik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 84 minutes into the match, Medemblik HC's Corné Jaliens sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Menno van der Sar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Steve Pik got free with Menno van der Sar in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 86 minutes into the match, Bhutan Utd's goal looked a bit too open when Corné Jaliens came free, but Menno van der Sar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Maurits Kaspers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elco Siebum read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play.
