After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Remond van der Werff managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Mansieboys's supporters rose to their feet, but Remond van der Werff was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jurjen Schoenmakers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 5th minute Ted van Basten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jurjen Schoenmakers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 9th minute Rien Krol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brain Schaap saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brain Schaap made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henny Meulenbergh in the 10th minute of play. When Raymond Sloedingen came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Altena fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Raymond Sloedingen couldn't finish the play. Henny Meulenbergh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brain Schaap having to interfere. The supporters of Altena booed when FC Mansieboys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edwin Elshot didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ted van Basten in the 19th minute of play forced Altena's goalkeeper Jurjen Schoenmakers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Altena getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Rien Krol hit a great ball. A collision led to FC Mansieboys getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Edwin Elshot hit a great ball. Jurjen Schoenmakers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ted van Basten, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ted van Basten to strike the kick off in the second half. Altena's Raymond Sloedingen quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Wilco de Cock, made in the 53rd minute of the game. Rien Krol kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. In the 61st minute Edwin Elshot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jurjen Schoenmakers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Martien Elshot received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Jurjen Schoenmakers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remond van der Werff in the 73rd minute of play forced Altena's goalkeeper Jurjen Schoenmakers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Altena's Jurjen Schoenmakers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Remond van der Werff in the 75th minute of play. Henny Meulenbergh struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Brain Schaap didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Altena. 89 minutes into the match, FC Mansieboys's goalkeeper Brain Schaap had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rien Krol. Henny Meulenbergh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Rien Krol came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Altena fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rien Krol couldn't finish the play. The FC Mansieboys support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
