After a defensive mix-up in Elkenraad's zone, Gerald Spannenburg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reinier van Bronckhorst came out of the goal and Gerald Spannenburg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 19 minutes into the match, Elkenraad's goal looked a bit too open when Gerald Spannenburg came free, but Reinier van Bronckhorst reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Japke Roeles's late challenge caught a Elkenraad's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Japke Roeles helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Elkenraad booed when Meerzicht was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Japke Roeles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jelle Kuypers struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Yorrick Stevens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Meerzicht's goalkeeper Yorrick Stevens, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some careless play in the Elkenraad defense, Vincent Roeles kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Reinier van Bronckhorst. The Elkenraad fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Reinier van Bronckhorst should have stopped the shot. Klaas Jan Harmens recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Jelle Kuypers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Meerzicht were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The wind increased when Vincent Roeles made the kick off in the second half. Reinier van Bronckhorst made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Gerald Spannenburg sent off a good shot on target. Klaas Jan Harmens recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lucien de Vlieger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Yorrick Stevens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 57 minutes into the game, Klaas Jan Harmens cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Yorrick Stevens was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Vincent Roeles managed to get in a good position for a shot. Meerzicht's supporters rose to their feet, but Vincent Roeles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Reinier van Bronckhorst breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vincent Roeles in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Reinier van Bronckhorst saved Elkenraad from getting behind. Reinier van Bronckhorst made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Gerald Spannenburg sent off a good shot on target. If Gerald Spannenburg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Klaas Jan Harmens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 88 minutes of play, Elkenraad's Klaas Jan Harmens made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Yorrick Stevens was left in no man's land by his defense there! Elkenraad's Reinier van Bronckhorst played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vincent Roeles in the 95th minute of play.
