Folker Collins hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Fortuna Sittard's Florian van Galen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pim Wiggers in the 7th minute of play. After 9 minutes, Folker Collins mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Emmermeer HC and the Fortuna Sittard players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 9th minute, Folker Collins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 15 minutes into the match, Emmermeer HC's goalkeeper Gooitzen de Jong had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Raymond den Engelsman. Erben Veldhuis's late challenge caught a Emmermeer HC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erben Veldhuis helped the player get up and apologised. Pim Wiggers scored 0-1 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Florian van Galen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 26 minutes of play Fortuna Sittard's Erben Veldhuis was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Fortuna Sittard's Erben Veldhuis got a free kick in the 27th minute. Florian van Galen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pim Wiggers, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Fortuna Sittard's Florian van Galen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pim Wiggers in the 40th minute of play. Florian van Galen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert-Jan Zeydeveld, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. In the 43rd minute, Pim Wiggers got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Gio Thole had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pim Wiggers stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Robert-Jan Zeydeveld succeeded in the game's 54th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. In the 60th match minute, Emmermeer HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Freek Bults to maneuver through the defense. Florian van Galen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pim Wiggers in the 68th minute of play. After 70 played minutes Emmermeer HC got a freekick which was hit by Folker Collins. Fortuna Sittard's Florian van Galen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save Fortuna Sittard from getting a goal against them. Florian van Galen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Robert-Jan Zeydeveld in the 78th minute. Emmermeer HC's Pim Wiggers managed to work through Fortuna Sittard's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Pim Wiggers dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Rudolf Veldman kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Maurice Meerdink fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gooitzen de Jong having to interfere. Fortuna Sittard's Gio Thole got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Raymond den Engelsman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fortuna Sittard's supporters rose to their feet, but Raymond den Engelsman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gooitzen de Jong breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice moves Robert-Jan Zeydeveld could shoot a difficult shot in the 94th minute, which Florian van Galen however easily saved by the left post. Robert-Jan Zeydeveld took the ball and in the 97 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Florian van Galen. Florian van Galen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Fortuna Sittard lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
