Ed Polak who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 9thth minute tested the skills of Timo Stroeve when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Toni Prinsen fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored fc genemuiden's protests and gave Toni Prinsen a yellow card for diving instead. Toni Prinsen kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Timo Stroeve made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ferdinant Maseland in the 44th minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 48 minutes into the game, when Henny van der Schans put in a rough tackle. After 47 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for fc genemuiden! Jorn de Groot shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Scherwolde fully deserved thier win.
