Tommie Harmannus took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 6th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Theo Steen. Streefkerk S.V.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arno Ricksen in the 7th minute of play forced Streefkerk S.V.'s goalkeeper Theo Steen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gert Strobos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan Klinkhamer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Varsselder HC getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Jan van Schaik hit a great ball. Streefkerk S.V.'s Theo Steen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arno Ricksen in the 16th minute of play. Gert Roodenburg could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Theo Steen made a huge save. After having played for 21 minutes, Gert Roodenburg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Varsselder HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gert Roodenburg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 24th minute, Varsselder HC's Gert Roodenburg dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Gert Roodenburg in the 31stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Theo Steen, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Arno Ricksen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 42 minutes, Gert Roodenburg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Varsselder HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gert Roodenburg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Theo Steen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arno Ricksen in the 44th minute of play. Guus Wijngaart sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Guus Wijngaart was the one to do the kick off. After some careless play in the Streefkerk S.V. defense, Jan van Schaik kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Theo Steen. The Streefkerk S.V. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Theo Steen should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ricky Iemberge during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 57 minutes into the game, one of Streefkerk S.V.:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Varsselder HC's Arno Ricksen got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arno Ricksen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 74th minute, Gert Roodenburg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 75th minute, Guus Wijngaart hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gert Roodenburg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Theo Steen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gert Roodenburg in the 85th minute of play. Arno Ricksen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Streefkerk S.V.'s zone, Gert Roodenburg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Theo Steen came out of the goal and Gert Roodenburg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 91 played minutes Streefkerk S.V. got a freekick which was hit by Guus Wijngaart. Varsselder HC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Menno Horring in the 94th minute. Theo Homan hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. In the 94th minute, Varsselder HC's Theo Homan fired away a free kick that almost went in the goal. Theo Steen was prepared for the shot, but didn't have to make a play as the shot flew over the goal. Streefkerk S.V.'s players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
