Klaas Sligter started the match with the kick off. Marco van Zeist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Stefan Heije tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stefan Heije took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Klaas Sligter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olaf Ostermann was extremely unlucky when he, in the 11th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. When Marco van Zeist came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the freaksies fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marco van Zeist couldn't finish the play. Gening's Stefan Heije played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Klaas Sligter in the 15th minute of play. In the 17th minute, one of freaksies:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for freaksies. Olaf Ostermann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rolf Aelbrecht sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Olaf Ostermann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marco van Zeist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stefan Heije having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The audience was convinced that Klaas Sligter's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Stefan Heije was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. Andre Dekens hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. In the 61st minute, Fabiën Korf hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Serge Zeydeveld was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 62nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Jurgen Tieleman kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Arno van Zalen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jurgen Tieleman in the 70th minute of play. In the 72nd minute Klaas Sligter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stefan Heije saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Gening booed when freaksies was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jens Jurjens didn't get a good kick on the ball. freaksies's Arno van Zalen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jurgen Tieleman in the 84th minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Marco van Zeist had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Stefan Heije. Gening's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marco van Zeist was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1.
