Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Antoon Ricksen started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Victor Bijlsma stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jacco Elders's shot from short distance in the 2nd minute. Robert Boschker might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wessel van Putten. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Robert Boschker ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Gellicum defense, Antoon Ricksen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wessel van Putten. The Gellicum fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wessel van Putten should have stopped the shot. Schalkhaar S.C.'s Victor Bijlsma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacco Elders in the 8th minute of play. In the 9th minute Jacco Elders shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Victor Bijlsma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Jacco Elders had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacco Elders in the 16th minute of play forced Schalkhaar S.C.'s goalkeeper Victor Bijlsma to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute, Bruno Snoeks hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 22nd minute Jacco Elders shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Victor Bijlsma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 24 played minutes, Schalkhaar S.C.'s Maurice Wander shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Wessel van Putten came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Schalkhaar S.C. reached it. Wessel van Putten made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antoon Ricksen in the 33rd minute of play. In the 38th minute Antoon Ricksen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wessel van Putten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Robert Boschker managed to get in a good position for a shot. Schalkhaar S.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Robert Boschker was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wessel van Putten breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Robert Boschker came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Schalkhaar S.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert Boschker couldn't finish the play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jacco Elders stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Wagemakers in the 57th minute of play forced Schalkhaar S.C.'s goalkeeper Victor Bijlsma to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Gellicum booed when Schalkhaar S.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Japke Kolman didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 65th minute, Hans Overmars hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Antoon Ricksen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wessel van Putten was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. Robert Boschker struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Wessel van Putten didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Schalkhaar S.C.. Robert Boschkers short, quick shot in the 73rdth minute got Wessel van Putten to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 76th minute, Maurice Wander hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 83rd minute, Jacco Elders left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gellicum fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Victor Bijlsma didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jacco Elders went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score.
