Harry Adams guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Dirk-Jan Huizen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Henk Sanders fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Mensing having to interfere. Lukas Zwarthoet kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Fred Mensing made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ab Molenaar in the 28th minute of play. Jim Lensens short, quick shot in the 34thth minute got Harry Adams to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Rockanje's Dirk-Jan Huizen got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. SPARTA Rotterdam's Harry Adams proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save SPARTA Rotterdam from getting a goal against them. Dirk-Jan Huizen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Harry Adams read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. When the match clock showed 41 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Jim Lensen sped through SPARTA Rotterdam's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Harry Adams. Jim Lensen who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 45thth minute tested the skills of Harry Adams when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 47 minutes into the match, Rockanje's Jim Lensen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Harry Adams narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ab Molenaar to make the kick off. In the 58thth minute of the game Jim Lensen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SPARTA Rotterdam's Harry Adams was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Rockanje's Dirk-Jan Huizen got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dirk-Jan Huizen in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Harry Adams prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dirk-Jan Huizen scored 3-0 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Harry Adams, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dirk-Jan Huizen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Harry Adams tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
