Henk Sanders's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bob Anneese read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Olaf Oost during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 25 played minutes Reutum Excelsior got a freekick which was hit by Olaf Oost. With a little luck, SPARTA Rotterdam's Harry Adams got control of the ball when Jelle Rodenberg tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Olaf Oost had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
