Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Merlenberg's Coenraad Nibbelke started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Merlenberg getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Daniël van Schaik hit a great ball. In the 5th minute, Fernando Ihselmann got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Coenraad Nibbelke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 12 minutes into the match, Englum's goalkeeper Bjorn Appeldoorn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Werner Remmelts. Bjorn Appeldoorn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Coenraad Nibbelke's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Werner Remmelts received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Bjorn Appeldoorn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fernando Ihselmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mark Bas having to interfere. Englum's Bjorn Appeldoorn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Englum from getting a goal against them. In the 37th minute, Merlenberg's Roderick Weinands dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Werner Remmelts fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bjorn Appeldoorn having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thijs Hollander in the 44th minute of play forced Englum's goalkeeper Bjorn Appeldoorn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Iwan de Kort to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Werner Remmelts made a precise shot to the right of Bjorn Appeldoorn. Englum's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. 57 minutes into the match, Iwan de Kort dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Mark Bas, 2-2. Bjorn Appeldoorn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Werner Remmelts in the 62nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Thijs Hollander managed to get in a good position for a shot. Merlenberg's supporters rose to their feet, but Thijs Hollander was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bjorn Appeldoorn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Iwan de Kort received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Mark Bas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 69 played minutes Merlenberg got a freekick which was hit by John Koopmans. After recieving a nice pass, Englum's Karsten Schattenberg tried to score from far away in the 70th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. John Koopmans kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Werner Remmelts recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Merlenberg's Thijs Hollander got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 88 minutes, John Koopmans managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Merlenberg's supporters crossed their fingers, but John Koopmans was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thijs Hollander recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 95thth minute of the game John Koopmans who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Englum's Bjorn Appeldoorn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
