Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Albert Rodenboog took the kick off in the first half of the match. Geert van Gaal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sappemeer FC's Geert van Gaal got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Albert Rodenboog received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Henny Veen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 15th match minute, Sappemeer FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Berry Bergman to maneuver through the defense. Henny Veen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bram de Ruijter, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Henny Veen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albert Rodenboog, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Henny Veen came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Reek Excelsior's Bram de Ruijter. But to his dismay, Bram de Ruijter quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Albert Rodenboog received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Henny Veen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Albert Rodenboog came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Reek Excelsior fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albert Rodenboog couldn't finish the play. Geert van Gaal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Reek Excelsior's zone, Geert van Gaal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jelle Pierewaaijer came out of the goal and Geert van Gaal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 39th match minute, Sappemeer FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geert van Gaal to maneuver through the defense. After 43 minutes, Sjors Panter mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Reek Excelsior and the Sappemeer FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. 43 minutes into the game, one of Reek Excelsior:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Karsten Bogaard shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Jelle Pierewaaijer didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Geert van Gaal went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Floris van Olst stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Albert Rodenboog in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Henny Veen saved Sappemeer FC from getting behind. Jelle Pierewaaijer came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Sappemeer FC's Berry Bergman. But to his dismay, Berry Bergman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Wesley Dam kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. In the 65th minute, Floris van Olst ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jelle Pierewaaijer was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. 69 minutes into the game, Bram de Ruijter cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Henny Veen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Floris van Olst fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jelle Pierewaaijer having to interfere. Geert van Gaal might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jelle Pierewaaijer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Geert van Gaal ran back to his position shaking his head. Jelle Pierewaaijer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geert van Gaal, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Henny Veen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 97 played minutes Sappemeer FC got a freekick which was hit by Herbert Folkers.
