When Florian Rademaker fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. When Elroy Klooster came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Vogelwijk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elroy Klooster couldn't finish the play. After 25 played minutes Opijnen S.C. got a freekick which was hit by Mike Dost. Rolf Pragt had several of the Opijnen S.C.'s defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 26 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Harold Meinders as he didn't even see the shot coming. Remond Meier's late challenge caught a Opijnen S.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Remond Meier helped the player get up and apologised. In the 45th minute, Remond Meier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vogelwijk's Huib Scheepstra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leon Siepel in the 46th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

There was no doubt that Vogelwijk were the better team. Vogelwijk's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
