Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eelco Schaeffer in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Berend Bouma prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ted Nijemanting in the 7thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Berend Bouma, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Marcel Bette sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 21st minute, Ted Nijemanting left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. After having played for 38 minutes, Ed Adams managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Blaartem HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ed Adams was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eelco Schaeffer made a kick off. Berend Bouma made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eelco Schaeffer in the 54th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, Blaartem HC's goal looked a bit too open when Eelco Schaeffer came free, but Berend Bouma reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Nieuwegen HC's Mitchell Bakhuis got control of the ball when Ed Adams tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcel Bette in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mitchell Bakhuis saved Nieuwegen HC from getting behind. Eelco Schaeffer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Berend Bouma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ed Adams might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mitchell Bakhuis. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ed Adams ran back to his position shaking his head. If Marcel Bette had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Otto Schalkwijk fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nieuwegen HC's protests and gave Otto Schalkwijk a yellow card for diving instead. Ed Adams kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 87 minutes into the game, when Theo Bronkhorst put in a rough tackle. In the 87th minute, one of Blaartem HC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Blaartem HC. Eelco Schaeffer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Frans Hellemons kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. After 98 minutes of play Nieuwegen HC's Otto Schalkwijk was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Nieuwegen HC getting a freekick after 99 minutes play. Otto Schalkwijk hit a great ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Nieuwegen HC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Blaartem HC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
