The supporters of Staatsliedenwijk booed when Hatsum FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chris Verweijen didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st match minute, Staatsliedenwijk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniël van der Bij to maneuver through the defense. When Richard Haas came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Hatsum FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Richard Haas couldn't finish the play. Bernard Schaap hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. After 24 played minutes, Staatsliedenwijk's Ralph Egberts shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alwin Hoogsteen came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Staatsliedenwijk reached it. Staatsliedenwijk's Remco Cales got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kees de Hoop kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. In the 47th minute, Jean-Paul Friebel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jean-Paul Friebel to make the kick off. In the 54th match minute, Hatsum FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chris Verweijen to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Alwin Hoogsteen managed to avoid a goal in the 55thth minute, when Staatsliedenwijk's Remco Cales fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Kees de Hoop's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alwin Hoogsteen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Remco Cales in the 61stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Bernard Schaap scored 1-0 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ronald Alkema, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
