In the 3rd minute, Rein de Zaaijer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Pijnakker Excelsior getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Koen van Westerop hit a great ball. Taco Wessel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jacobus Waterreus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 15 minutes into the match, Brakkenstein FC's goalkeeper Erwin Veentjer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Filip Meier. A collision led to Brakkenstein FC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Rein de Zaaijer hit a great ball. After 26 played minutes, Pijnakker Excelsior's Joop Rogaars shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Erwin Veentjer came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Pijnakker Excelsior reached it. In the 38th play minute Henry Stekelenburg came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Erwin Veentjer. 1-1. Henry Stekelenburg could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Erwin Veentjer made a huge save.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Co Wilbrink made a kick off. Co Wilbrink fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Taco Wessel having to interfere. In the 57th match minute, Pijnakker Excelsior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hans Mos to maneuver through the defense. If Rob Pierewaaijer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Co Wilbrink in the 63rd minute of play forced Pijnakker Excelsior's goalkeeper Taco Wessel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jacobus Waterreus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Taco Wessel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pijnakker Excelsior's Taco Wessel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Pijnakker Excelsior from getting a goal against them. Taco Wessel made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Jacobus Waterreus sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 77 minutes, Hans Mos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pijnakker Excelsior's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hans Mos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Hans Mos came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Pijnakker Excelsior fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hans Mos couldn't finish the play. Hans Mos might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Erwin Veentjer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hans Mos ran back to his position shaking his head. Erwin Veentjer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filip Meier in the 88th minute of play. Joep Deitmers scored 2-1 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Erwin Veentjer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Pijnakker Excelsior fully deserved thier win.
