Loven's Klaas van Wonderen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bennie Visscher in the 6th minute of play. Gert Waterman hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Jacco Klerk received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Klaas van Wonderen came out and tried to block the shot, but Jacco Klerk slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 10th minute. Loven's Klaas van Wonderen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Loven from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bennie Visscher got free with Klaas van Wonderen in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jacco Klerk was extremely unlucky when he, in the 23rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Otto Pluym hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. After 30 minutes of play, Loven's Sjors Zuiverloon made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Demy Rodenboog was left in no man's land by his defense there! 34 minutes into the game, Sjors Zuiverloon cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Demy Rodenboog was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of IJmuiden booed when Loven was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernest Boer didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st minute, Rein Tinselboer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bennie Visscher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Klaas van Wonderen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44th minute Jacco Klerk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Klaas van Wonderen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bennie Visscher struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Klaas van Wonderen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for IJmuiden. After the first half Loven were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

IJmuiden's defense didn't have a chance, in the 52nd minute, when Bertus Heebels scored to the left of an out of position Demy Rodenboog, making the score, 1-4. Demy Rodenboog took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bertus Heebels, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Loven's Klaas van Wonderen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacco Klerk in the 62nd minute of play. If Bennie Visscher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bennie Visscher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Klaas van Wonderen having to interfere. A collision led to Loven getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Karsten Wiarda hit a great ball. Demy Rodenboog took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bertus Heebels, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Bertus Heebels kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Demy Rodenboog. That made the score 2-5 in the 90 minute of play. In the 95th minute, IJmuiden's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Bertus Heebels fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Loven's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
