The Middenvoort HC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dries Paauwe should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in VanRud V.'s zone, Riemer Gulpen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mart Bust came out of the goal and Riemer Gulpen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Sander Arends managed to get in a good position for a shot. VanRud V.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Sander Arends was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dries Paauwe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 31 minutes into the match, Middenvoort HC's goal looked a bit too open when Gerard Borg came free, but Dries Paauwe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gerard Borg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Dries Paauwe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gerard Borg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dries Paauwe having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Middenvoort HC's Izaak Hofman got a free kick in the 41st minute. 45 minutes into the match, Middenvoort HC's goal looked a bit too open when Sander Arends came free, but Dries Paauwe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 47 minutes into the match, VanRud V.'s goal looked a bit too open when Riemer Gulpen came free, but Mart Bust reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Riemer Gulpen made a kick off. Sander Arends sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 54th minute, Gerard Borg made a precise shot to the right of Dries Paauwe. Middenvoort HC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Gerard Borg managed to get in a good position for a shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sander Arends in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dries Paauwe saved Middenvoort HC from getting behind. The VanRud V. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mart Bust should have stopped the shot. Mart Bust showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gert Hesp in the 72nd minute of the match. Riemer Gulpen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mart Bust having to interfere. If Sander Arends had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 87 minutes into the game, Sebastiaan Tollenaar was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Middenvoort HC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave VanRud V. the free kick. In the 90th minute of the match VanRud V. got a corner. Middenvoort HC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Wim Sandbergen ran over to the corner to take the kick. Gerard Borg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gerard Borg might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dries Paauwe. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gerard Borg ran back to his position shaking his head. Sander Arends's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dries Paauwe read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. The Middenvoort HC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. VanRud V. were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
