Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Rogier Westerink took the kick off in the first half of the match. Taco Oosting fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harald Zomerdijk having to interfere. Harald Zomerdijk stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Taco Oosting's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. 7 minutes into the game, Benjamin de Lange was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Assen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pigeon City FC the free kick. Benjamin de Lange hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. The supporters of Pigeon City FC booed when FC Assen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hette Enting didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Pieter Jeuring managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pigeon City FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Pieter Jeuring was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Harald Zomerdijk breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Harald Zomerdijk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Taco Oosting, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 19 minutes, Jurjen Kok mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pigeon City FC and the FC Assen players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 20th match minute, Pigeon City FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jurjen Kok to maneuver through the defense. If Joost Ensing had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 24 minutes of play, Pigeon City FC's Taco Oosting made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Harald Zomerdijk was left in no man's land by his defense there! Pigeon City FC's Taco Oosting got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Benjamin de Lange had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benjamin de Lange could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Anton Klaus made a huge save. FC Assen's Joost Ensing got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 46 minutes into the match, Pigeon City FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alexander Zeegelaar came free, but Anton Klaus reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joost Ensing to make the kick off. Ronald van Rijswijk took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 55th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Anton Klaus. Pigeon City FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Rogier Westerink had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Taco Oosting got free with Harald Zomerdijk in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Taco Oosting sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Taco Oosting recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Joost Ensing managed to get in a good position for a shot. Taco Oosting sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The FC Assen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
