Jan-Peter Mastebroek could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Maarten Stroeve made a huge save. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Simon Zondervan made the kick off in the second half. If Jan-Peter Mastebroek had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 59thth minute of the game Simon Zondervan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hellegom V.V.'s Maarten Stroeve was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Donald Rogaars made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Marick de Boer sent off a good shot on target. If Simon Zondervan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 70th minute of the match Eddy Brugmans sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Maarten Stroeve skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Jan-Peter Mastebroek managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chelsea's supporters rose to their feet, but Jan-Peter Mastebroek was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Maarten Stroeve breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Maarten Stroeve showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simon Zondervan in the 74th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan-Peter Mastebroek in the 76th minute of play forced Hellegom V.V.'s goalkeeper Maarten Stroeve to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hellegom V.V.'s Maarten Stroeve played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jan-Peter Mastebroek in the 78th minute of play. In the 79th minute, Job Heeringa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marick de Boer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hellegom V.V.'s Roger Bernard got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Marick de Boer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 91st minute Simon Zondervan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maarten Stroeve saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Jan-Peter Mastebroek came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Chelsea fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jan-Peter Mastebroek couldn't finish the play. 94 minutes into the match, Hellegom V.V.'s goal looked a bit too open when Simon Zondervan came free, but Maarten Stroeve reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chelsea's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
