Ryan Cardinaal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivo Perk in the 4th minute of play. If Harry Windmuller had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 17 minutes, Martijn Waard managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Vlaardingen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martijn Waard was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 23rd minute, Chelsea's Simon Zondervan dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Donald Rogaars made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harry Windmuller in the 26th minute of play. With a little luck, FC Vlaardingen's Ryan Cardinaal got control of the ball when Jan-Peter Mastebroek tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ryan Cardinaal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Simon Zondervan, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. After 31 played minutes FC Vlaardingen got a freekick which was hit by Martijn Waard. Harry Windmuller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donald Rogaars having to interfere. In the 39th minute, Jan-Peter Mastebroek made a precise shot to the right of Ryan Cardinaal. FC Vlaardingen's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Martijn Waard during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 42nd minute, one of FC Vlaardingen:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for FC Vlaardingen.

The wind increased when Harry Windmuller made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Chelsea's Eddy Brugmans got a free kick in the 51st minute. Harry Windmuller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dimitrie Lyle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donald Rogaars having to interfere. Ryan Cardinaal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jan-Peter Mastebroek in the 62nd minute of the match. Theo Wensing fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ryan Cardinaal having to interfere. After having played for 67 minutes, Harry Windmuller managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. After a rather tough play, FC Vlaardingen's Martijn Waard got a free kick in the 70th minute. Ivo Perk took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 71st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ryan Cardinaal. FC Vlaardingen's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Dimitrie Lyle recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 75th match minute, FC Vlaardingen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robin Jonkman to maneuver through the defense. Ryan Cardinaal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Theo Wensing in the 77th minute of the match. Dimitrie Lyle was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 79th minute. FC Vlaardingen's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After 81 minutes of play, Chelsea's Reinier Harmsen made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ryan Cardinaal was left in no man's land by his defense there! FC Vlaardingen's Dimitrie Lyle got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 87 played minutes, Chelsea's Ivo Perk shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ryan Cardinaal came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Chelsea reached it. In the 90th minute Simon Zondervan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ryan Cardinaal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 92nd minute Ger Breinburg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ryan Cardinaal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Chelsea fans cheered their team off the field, for while FC Vlaardingen had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
