Pieter Scheer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ivo Heije in the 5th minute. Boudewijn Venema received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Christiaan van Dalfsen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 14 minutes into the game, Pim Oosterveld was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Almere Stars FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mean Machine the free kick. After a rather tough play, Almere Stars FC's Pim Oosterveld got a free kick in the 14th minute. Nico-Jan Kroon's late challenge caught a Mean Machine's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Christiaan van Dalfsen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Boudewijn Venema in the 26th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cees Ooijer in the 32nd minute of play forced Almere Stars FC's goalkeeper Christiaan van Dalfsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cees Ooijer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Boudewijn Venema ran back to his position shaking his head. Donald Sneijder kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Boudewijn Venema spun around in front of the goal 45 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Almere Stars FC's goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Donald Sneijder to make the kick off. An unexpected shot in the 53rd minute by Boudewijn Venema got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Cees Ooijer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Christiaan van Dalfsen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Pieter Scheer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donald Sneijder, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. After a rather tough play, Mean Machine's Riemer Bulder got a free kick in the 87th minute. Almere Stars FC's Casper van Zalingen got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cees Ooijer was extremely unlucky when he, in the 91st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The supporters of Almere Stars FC booed when Mean Machine was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Serge Bouwens didn't get a good kick on the ball. Boudewijn Venema sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Many of Mean Machine's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Mean Machine may have spent more time on the ball, but Almere Stars FC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
