Ronald Maas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jan Kik read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. With a little luck, Fc duindorp's Jan Kik got control of the ball when Ronald Maas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jens Hartogh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan Telkamp in the 14th minute of play. Jan Kik showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alex Sneijder in the 18th minute of the match. Alex Sneijder might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jan Kik. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alex Sneijder ran back to his position shaking his head. Firdgum FC's Jouke Peppinck was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jan Kik in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Fc duindorp's Sipke van Gessel got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 41st minute Jan Telkamp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jens Hartogh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Fc duindorp booed when Firdgum FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronald Maas didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sipke van Gessel in the 44th minute of play forced Firdgum FC's goalkeeper Jens Hartogh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Ronald Maas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alex Sneijder was the one to do the kick off. Sipke van Gessel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jens Hartogh having to interfere. Sipke van Gessel struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Jens Hartogh didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fc duindorp. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jan Telkamp in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jens Hartogh prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jan Kik showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alex Sneijder in the 63rd minute of the match. In the 65th minute Ronald Maas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan Kik saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jens Hartogh didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 67th minute, which inside left pole to 1-1.
