The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Steve Heerspink made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Corné van Kampen in the 3rd minute of play. In the 4th minute, Iwan Naaijer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 7th minute, Ger Baker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rudolf de Ridder charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rudolf de Ridder the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Rudolf de Ridder hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. In the 12th minute Stef Kun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vincent Tigelaar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Steve Heerspink showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iwan Naaijer, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Corné van Kampen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Giethoorn FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Corné van Kampen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Steve Heerspink breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 20thth minute of the game Iwan Naaijer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vere S.C.'s Steve Heerspink was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With an all-out effort, Vere S.C.'s Vincent Tigelaar threw himself towards the right post 22 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Stef Kun, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Stef Kun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hans van der Sar in the 25thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Vincent Tigelaar, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. A collision led to Vere S.C. getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Rafael Ax hit a great ball. If Corné van Kampen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. During the 30th minute of the match Rudolf de Ridder completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Rudolf de Ridder a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 31st minute, Rudolf de Ridder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 34 played minutes Giethoorn FC got a freekick which was hit by Jelle Scheer. Ger Baker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vere S.C.'s Steve Heerspink played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Corné van Kampen in the 43rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Corné van Kampen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Giethoorn FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Corné van Kampen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Steve Heerspink breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Corné van Kampens short, quick shot in the 90thth minute got Steve Heerspink to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 93rdth minute of the game Iwan Naaijer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vere S.C.'s Steve Heerspink was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Iwan Naaijer might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Steve Heerspink. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Iwan Naaijer ran back to his position shaking his head. Giethoorn FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
