An unexpectedly hard shot by Hans van der Sar in the 26th minute of play forced Vink HC's goalkeeper Ernest de Vlieger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Stef Kun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Stef Kun to strike the kick off in the second half. Vink HC's Ernest de Vlieger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ger Baker in the 51st minute of play. The supporters of Vere S.C. booed when Vink HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Herman Beishuizen didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Allard Bouwens managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vink HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Allard Bouwens was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Steve Heerspink breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 56th minute, Ferdinant Bergen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ernest de Vlieger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stef Kun, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Vere S.C.'s zone, Kristian Houwing stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Steve Heerspink came out of the goal and Kristian Houwing tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Stef Kun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Vere S.C. eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
