Jacob Ruben fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mirko Everts having to interfere. When Wilfried de Boer came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Termunten HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wilfried de Boer couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Termunten HC booed when Westerland Excelsior was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edward Hoekstra didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Sjoerd Teunisse's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luuk Huizen was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Termunten HC's Mirko Everts played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Robbermond in the 18th minute of play. Luuk Huizen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sjoerd Teunisse, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Fernando Robbermond fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mirko Everts having to interfere. In the 25th minute Sjoerd Teunisse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luuk Huizen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alexander Jaliens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luuk Huizen having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sjoerd Teunisse in the 39th minute of play forced Westerland Excelsior's goalkeeper Luuk Huizen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute, Sjoerd Teunisse got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 42 minutes into the game, one of Westerland Excelsior:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The Termunten HC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. If Wilfried de Boer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 76 minutes, Harm Bouma mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Westerland Excelsior and the Termunten HC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Termunten HC booed when Westerland Excelsior was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harm Bouma didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sjoerd Teunisse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luuk Huizen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilfried de Boer in the 87th minute of play. 89 minutes into the match, Sjoerd Teunisse notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Westerland Excelsior's Luuk Huizen. Luuk Huizen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sjoerd Teunisse in the 93rd minute of play forced Westerland Excelsior's goalkeeper Luuk Huizen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 95 minutes into the match, Termunten HC's Sjoerd Teunisse sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luuk Huizen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sjoerd Teunisse struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Luuk Huizen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Termunten HC. Termunten HC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
